Bulimia nervosa is more commonly referred to as Bulimia. It is an eating disorder characterized by episodes of secret, excessive eating (binge eating) followed by inappropriate methods of weight control. These include induced vomiting, laxative and diuretic abuse, and/or excessive exercise. Bulimics are more likely to have depression or general anxiety disorder than non-bulimics.
